Dunvegan: The Village ofIn the small village of Dunvegan, the Glengarry Pioneer Museum proudly displays our Scottish heritage. The complex features several buildings dating back to the 1840s which is home to a wide variety of artifacts. Some of the areas original structures and many of the area's first farming implements, tools and several unusual sleighs have found a home here. A textile centre has been established to display a collection of period clothing and various pieces of works created by area artisans. Also featured is an authentic miniature cheese factory modeled after an 1826 cheese factory in Lancaster. The Velma Franklin Library has an extensive variety of books, Gaelic Bibles and the works of Ralph Connor that visitors may look at upon request to help shed light on Glengarry's past. Throughout the summer, the museum also offers a range of special exhibits, festivals and events. |
