Alexandria, May 10, 2018 – This evening, the Council for the Township of North Glengarry held a public information session to update residents on the progress of the Maxville Water Project. This follows on the April 16th announcement that Clarence McDonald Excavation had been awarded a $10.2 million contract for the water distribution system for that municipality.

During the session, details were shared on the roles and responsibilities of the Township, engineering firm, contractor and residents in the project. While the Township’s role is to ensure proper implementation and overall oversight on the project, EVB Engineering, as contract administrator, will provide construction and engineering oversight and report back accordingly to the Township.

Maxville residents will also have a role to play during this project. Pre-inspections will be performed which may require access to residents’ properties. Residents will be asked to identify their preferred service location and asked to provide timely feedback throughout the project.

Project timing to date is as follows:

·        Water Tower construction started on May 7th and should be completed by the end of October 2018;

·        Construction for the Water Distribution System is scheduled to start on May 14th with construction spanning approximately 24 months. Importantly, streets that are major thoroughfares for the Glengarry Highland Games should be completed prior to the games;

·        The design work is ongoing for the Water Transmission Main and Booster Station with plans to issue the tender at the end of May. Construction would start immediately after the tender is awarded;

·        Water Plant Upgrades are in the planning stages;

·        Reinstatement of various streets, sidewalks and structures will occur concurrently with construction.

“This is an exciting time for Maxville as we see these infrastructure improvements take place” states Councillor Carma Williams. “Securing Maxville’s water supply has been one of Council’s major infrastructure priorities for many years and this progress demonstrates Council’s commitment to the community.”

Over the next few weeks, residents should expect a visit from the contractor as part of the pre-inspection process and note the presence of the contractor and EVB Engineering as services locations are identified, staked and GPS.

The Township would like to invite residents to contact the Public Works office with their questions or concerns by calling 613-525-3087 or emailing In addition, Clarence McDonald Excavation has an on-site office located in the former Debbie’s Country Corner building.
