Garbage and Recycling - General Info

North Glengarry recycling bins

North Glengarry recycles and is proud of it! Not just to save the planet and our landfills, but since the Township of North Glengarry operates a large facility that receives, sorts and processes recyclables from North Glengarry residents. The plant, known as RARE, has been in operation since the early 1990s.

 Recycle Your Electronic Waste

green garbage can filled with old computer junkDROP-OFF: E-waste can be dropped off at R.A.R.E. from Monday to Friday (other than holidays), between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm.

DIRECTIONS: Click here to obtain directions to the R.A.R.E. Plant.

E-waste is a popular, informal name for electronic products nearing the end of their "useful life." Computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, and fax machines are common electronic products. Many of these products can be reused, refurbished, or recycled.

Today, the electronic waste recycling business is in all areas of the developed world a large and rapidly consolidating business. Part of this evolution has involved greater diversion of electronic waste from energy-intensive downcycling processes (e.g., conventional recycling), where equipment is reverted to a raw material form.

You can bring your unwanted electronics such as: Televisions, Display Devices, Desktop Computers, Portable Computers, Computer Peripherals, Printing Devices, Telephones, Cellular Devices, Speakers, Audio & Video Devices or any electronic device with a plug or battery that is found in the home or office. We do not accept white goods (large appliances).

Please note we now accept single use batteries and rechargeable batteries.
