The department is well resourced and equipped to deliver quality essential services to North Glengarry residents.

Rogers Communications high-speed internet expansion project

Rogers Communications is currently completing a high-speed internet expansion project as part of a joint Provincial and Federal initiative.

This work is being delivered through the Accelerated High-Speed Internet Program (AHSIP), which aims to improve broadband access in underserved and rural communities across Ontario. Residents can learn more about the program here: https://www.infrastructureontario.ca/en/what-we-do/projectssearch/accelerated-high-speed-internet-program/.

Project Status Update

Rogers has provided the following update on construction progress within North Glengarry:

  • Approximately 97% of conduit installation has been completed.
  • The remaining 3% of conduit work is still in progress.
  • Construction activities in 2026 will focus on fibre optic cable placement and splicing, including connections within underground vaults.
  • Two network hubs (Optical Line Terminals – OLTs) are planned and are expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
  • Once these components are in service, most areas of North Glengarry are expected to have access to high-speed internet, pending any unforeseen delays.

The overall AHSIP program timeline has also been extended to 2028.

What Residents Should Expect

As work continues through 2026, residents may continue to see construction crews installing fibre infrastructure and completing final connections. Some temporary disruptions may occur, including minor traffic impacts or short-term disturbances in construction areas.
