Michael Fawthrop appointed as North Glengarry CAO

“On behalf of the Township of North Glengarry, I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Fawthrop will be assuming the role of Chief Administrative Officer/Clerk for the Township of North Glengarry effective Monday, February 2nd, 2026”, said Mayor Jamie MacDonald. Mr. Fawthrop is a professional engineer who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our municipality, and staff and Council look forward to working closely with him on a variety of important projects, including the expansion of Alexandria’s wastewater treatment facility and the overhaul of Alexandria’s main street.”

Mr. Fawthrop is a graduate of the Civil Engineering program at Queen’s University and has worked in both the private and public sectors, most recently as General Manager of Infrastructure and Municipal Works for the City of Cornwall. In his role with the City, Mr. Fawthrop managed a large and complex department, so is well suited to managing the diverse nature of Township services. With the assistance of the Untied Counties of SDG, Mr. Fawthrop was recruited as part of a competitive process.

“I wish to thank our interim CAO/Clerk, Mr. Timothy Simpson, for the important role he played during our transition period”, said Mayor. MacDonald”. Mr. Simpson will work closely with Mr. Fawthrop to ensure a smooth hand-off of responsibilities in early 2026.
