SDG Tourism is looking for Historic SDG Jail artefacts
SDG Tourism is seeking the community’s help in recovering artefacts and stories from the Cornwall Jail, which closed in 2002. The former site of the Cornwall Jail is currently operating as the Historic SDG Jail tourism destination.
Donated artefacts will be included in new public exhibits and stories used to develop tour and literary content.
Artefacts can include:
- Hardware – Locks, shackles, security items, textiles (uniforms, badges, hats, blankets),
contraband items, phones and electronics, etc. - Documents – Notes, drawings, newspaper clippings, books, etc.
- Photographs and video footage.
The jail will be open to receive donated items on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., or by appointment, contact jail@sdgcounties.ca or 1-844-814-JAIL. The jail is located at 11 Water Street West, Cornwall ON, K6J 1A1.
