Provincial Long-Term Care Consultation

The Township wishes to make residents aware of a Provincial consultation that has come to our attention regarding a proposal to relocate the 70 long-term care beds currently operating at The Palace in Alexandria to a new facility outside of North Glengarry, resulting in the closure of The Palace.

The proposed relocation of long-term care beds outside of North Glengarry will impact local access to long-term care services. It will affect the ability of local residents to access care closer to home and could require family members and friends to travel greater distances to visit loved ones. Maintaining and expanding access to long-term care in North Glengarry is important to supporting local seniors and their families. Community members are encouraged to participate in the consultation and share their views regarding the potential impacts of the proposal.

The Township encourages residents and interested parties to review the proposal and submit comments to the Province by October 16, 2026. Feedback can be submitted by email or regular mail as follows:

Council will consider a formal resolution regarding this proposal at its October 13^th meeting for submission to the Province.
