Recycling changes for small businesses

We've heard your feedback and are pleased to introduce a new recycling option for eligible small businesses in North Glengarry.

As part of the Province's transition to producer responsibility for the Blue Box Program and the assumption of recycling collection services, effective January 1, 2025, Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) properties were deemed non-eligible sources under the provincial program. As a result, IC&I properties became responsible for arranging and funding their own recycling collection services.

While many larger IC&I properties already had private waste and recycling collection arrangements in place, these changes had a disproportionate impact on small businesses.

To help address this challenge, beginning Friday, August 21, eligible small businesses in North Glengarry that generate a quantity of recyclable materials comparable to a residential property will be able to drop off recyclable materials at the Waste Diversion Depot (265 Industrial Blvd., Alexandria) on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Businesses must qualify and register with the Township prior to using the service.
