Township appoints Derek Hoar as Deputy Fire Chief
The Township of North Glengarry is pleased to announce that Derek Hoar has been selected as the new Deputy Fire Chief, starting September 27th after an extensive recruitment process.
Fire Chief, Matthew Roy, shared that, “Derek was selected based on his leadership abilities, professional certifications, operational knowledge and vision for supporting the continued development of our department. His knowledge and experience will be valuable in supporting the professional development of our members and advancing the department’s training programs.”
Derek brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in delivering training based on National Fire Protection (NFPA) standards and holds certifications in multiple fire service disciplines.
The Deputy Fire Chief will report to the Fire Chief and assist with the administration and operation of the North Glengarry Fire Department. The position will also provide continuity of leadership and may assume the duties of Acting Fire Chief during the Fire Chief’s absence, as authorized.
The addition of a Deputy Fire Chief is an important step in strengthening the department’s leadership and organizational capacity,” says Mayor Jamie MacDonald. “This position will provide additional support to our current team officers and members while helping ensure that we continue to deliver professional and effective fire protection services to the residents of North Glengarry.”
The North Glengarry Fire Department operates out of three stations in Alexandria, Apple Hill and Maxville with 60 volunteer firefighters.
