Ten main street businesses from Alexandria and Maxville have received support via the My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program. 

Congratulations to the following 10 local businesses on being recipients of a My Main Street non-repayable contribution of $10,000 to support their main street businesses.

Alexandria, ON – September 8, 2022 - IHA Canada Inc. held a ground-breaking ceremony on September 8, 2022, celebrating the start of construction of a unique senior living community in Alexandria, Ontario — Glengarry Hills. IHA Canada established a vision of “Building a Better Future for Seniors in Canada” three years ago and are very pleased that that vision is becoming a reality right here in Alexandria, located in the Township of North Glengarry.

ALEXANDRIA, June 17, 2022 – Wednesday night the Glengarry County Archives celebrated its official opening, despite having been quietly open since July of 2020. However, with regulations changing due to COVID-19 the Archivist, Allan MacDonald wanted to wait until the new location could be honored properly.

Township collaborated with the Raisin River Conservation Authority and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on a program to reduce this invasive perennial in a limited area of Mill Pond. The removal of the weeds from Mill Pond is scheduled to start after June 15th, the earliest date allowed by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Alexandria, Ontario – April 21, 2022 — Today, the Township of North Glengarry is pleased to announce that the Villages of Alexandria and Maxville will be participating in the Government of Canada’s My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program to help revitalize our main streets, providing a total of $57,500 in non-repayable contributions to support local businesses.

Township of North Glengarry to Receive Ontario Trillium Grant

Alexandria, March 28, 2022 – In late 2021 Township staff applied to the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Community Building Fund – Capital stream, to install an HVAC system on the arena portion in the Maxville & District Sports Complex. The addition of an HVAC system to this area would increase the use of the facility in the off-season and create a much needed space for recreational activities and events to take place on the cement multi-sports pad in Maxville from April to August.

Alexandria, March 4, 2022 – The Township of North Glengarry is pleased to announce that the Glengarry Sports Palace is the recipient of up to $1,583,103 from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program  grant. These funds will help fund the $2,158,875 capital costs of replacing the Glengarry Sports Palace’s 46-year-old refrigerated floor with a new, more energy-efficient and safer system.
